Published by Silvana Editoriale, the publication gathers the documentation of more than forty artistic contributions, originally presented on the online portal pompeiicommitment.org, accompanied by additional research tools and critical texts.

A selection of filmic works and moving images by contemporary artists from Ukraine, conceived by Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, Rivoli-Torino and presented in collaboration with the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, as part of Pompeii Commitment.

CIRCA and Pompeii Commitment. Archaeological Matters present A Monument A Ruin by Cassandra Press, a publishing platform founded in 2016 by critically acclaimed artist Kandis Williams. The new work – a short video-lecture in which ancient street inscriptions collide with contemporary protest graffiti to question the nature of monuments – will appear every evening at 20:22 on London’s iconic Piccadilly Lights and broadcast across a network of screens in Los Angeles, Milan, Melbourne, New York, Seoul and Tokyo.

Saturday 11 December 2021, 5pm, the artist Michael Rakowitz (Long Island-New York, 1973) will perform a lecture entitled Seder for Pompeii at the Teatro del Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, curated by Marianna Vecellio, curator of the Castello di Rivoli, who will introduce the event with Andrea Viliani, co-curator of the program Pompeii Commitment. The Archaeological Park of Pompeii is pleased to announce the presentation of the solo exhibition Metropoli Latina by Andrea Branzi, one of the most important figures in Italian design and architecture from the 1960s to today. The exhibition – based on a project conceived by Studio Andrea Branzi and produced with the support of Friedman Benda Gallery, New York – is presented as part of Pompeii Commitment. Archaeological Matters, in collaboration with the Festival del Paesaggio, and is curated by Gianluca Riccio and Arianna Rosica with Studio Andrea Branzi.

Archaeological Area of Pompeii, 1 October – 3 November 2021
The international preview of Black Med, POMPEII (2021) by Invernomuto (Simone Bertuzzi and Simone Trabucchi) – an experimental work consisting of an algorithm, a server, speakers, sensors, light, temperature and the salinity of seawater – launches 1 October 2021. The project, which enters the collection (Collectio) of Pompeii Archaeological Park, was presented and donated by the Fondazione Morra Greco in Naples and was supported by the Italian Council 2019, programme to promote Italian contemporary art in the world by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

Fondazione ICA Milano in collaboration with Pompeii Commitment. Archaeological Matters presents the exhibition A breeze over the Mediterranean, first solo show in Italy dedicated to Simone Fattal (Damascus, 1942). One of the most important contemporary artists, Simone Fattal was born in Syria and grew up in Lebanon. She left the country in 1980 with the outbreak of the civil war and she settled first in the United States and later in France, where she currently lives and works. In Autumn 2021, artist Gianni Pettena and curator Luca Cerizza will present live on Zoom the new monograph Gianni Pettena: 1966-2021 (Mousse Publishing, Milan) dedicated to the Italian an-architect’s more than fifty years of practice. The book is co-produced by Pompeii Archaeological Park and MAXXI – National Museum of Twentieth Century Art in Rome, Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art in Prato and Kunst Meran/Merano Arte.
