The research conducted by artists, curators, and archaeologists in Pompeii Commitment always begins with an in-depth study of the site’s archaeological matters: artefacts, images, bodies, fragments, graffiti, organic remains, but also photographs, archives, excavation tools, and objects looted but later returned to the Park. All these materials, through their reciprocal interactions, actively contribute to defining the contemporary episteme of Pompeii.
The Inventory section brings these contents together, linking and presenting them as the material and immaterial heritage of the archaeological site: a living constellation of investigations, experiments, and connections. Conceived as a starting point for a hypothetical, transdisciplinary museum, this Inventory also serves as a precious, freely-accessible, collective archive. It complements the research of Pompeii Commitment and provides new tools for interpreting the past and present in their reciprocal cross-pollinations.
